5 amazing restaurants and cafés to try in Chobham

Influential US chef James Beard once said, “food is our common ground, a universal experience”.

Most of us enjoy sharing a meal with family or good friends, and you don’t need to travel far to find some wonderful places to do so.

Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch, a cup of coffee, or an extravagant meal, there are plenty of excellent establishments to try in the local area.

Read on to learn about five amazing restaurants and cafes in Chobham.

1. The Sun Inn

The Sun Inn in Chobham is our own Nick Swartout’s favourite place for a nice lunch or an early dinner.

This traditional pub on Chobham high street has a cosy atmosphere with several log fires, making it the perfect spot in the colder months. It also boasts an excellent terrace and outdoor dining area in the courtyard, making it a popular choice all year around.

The menu is built around local, seasonal ingredients, used to create a wide range of delicious dishes including pub classics such as steak or beef and ale pie, as well as some more contemporary options. They even offer a specialist dog menu if you’re visiting with a canine friend.

The Sun Inn also hosts events including their weekly pub quiz on a Tuesday and a wine tasting on Sundays.

2. The Four Horseshoes

The Four Horseshoes is another brilliant option if you’re looking for traditional British cuisine cooked to a high standard.

The restaurant and pub, situated on Chobham Common, re-opened after a much-needed refurbishment in 2013 and has since become one of the most popular eateries in the area. The blend of traditional pub décor and modern styling creates the perfect atmosphere to match the menu.

If you’re looking for some entertainment, you could book the boules green or the shuffleboard table for a game too.

The Four Horseshoes can also cater for events from small gatherings to large private parties, so it could be the perfect location for a celebration.

3. Basil and Blue

The whole Bray Wealth team are big fans of Basil and Blue, and we’re not alone as the local coffee shop was named the best café in Surrey in 2024.

It’s the ideal place for a delicious cup of coffee or a spot of lunch, especially in the summer as there is ample seating outside in the courtyard. You’ll find a wide range of coffee and speciality teas, as well as bagels, sandwiches, and freshly baked cakes on offer.

Basil and Blue is more than a simple coffee shop, it’s an important community hub. For example, the small café hosts a weekly running club and has a gallery space for local artists to display their work.

If you’re looking for a nice lunch in a relaxed, welcoming environment, Basil and Blue is perfect.

4. Pasha

Pasha is a brilliant local restaurant serving traditional Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, if you’re in the mood for something a little different.

The restaurant on Chobham high street has a more relaxed setup with sofas and a nice courtyard area for a casual dining experience. The ever-changing bistro menu is filled with authentic Mediterranean dishes perfect for sharing. They also offer an extensive breakfast menu, including a traditional British fry up.

If you want to explore the tastes of Turkey in an authentic family-owned restaurant, Pasha is your best bet.

5. The White Hart

The White Hart is another popular choice for the Bray Wealth team. The pub is thought to be one of the oldest buildings in Chobham and it’s retained the quaint, historic charm.

Each day, the kitchen designs a new menu, so you’ll get something slightly different on every visit. You can expect timeless dishes such as seared scallops and chicken liver pate, as well as exciting international offerings such as crispy duck gyoza.

The White Hart is partnered with Chobham Cricket Club and has a large outdoor seating area with excellent views over the green. So, whether you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a nice lunch outside, or you want to watch the cricket with a drink and some good friends, the White Hart is worth a visit.
